Jihad Is The Only Way To A Khilafah, The Khilafah Can Only Be Realized Through Jihad

24-04-2008

The lowest degree of imam is when someone whispers to his soul to go for jihad, to fight and then wish for it to happen. He prayed to Allah to ease the way for him and he is honest to himself in this matter.

This can be achieved by all Muslims, no ailments can stop one from doing this. Nothing have any control over a person to stop him from doing this. Indeed when he is sincere in his whisper, his soul would one day take his body to go for jihad in the way of Allah, and that is for certain.

However if he is abandoning the jihad, then it is an evidence of hypocrisy on his part because indeed jihad fi sabilillah is a true proof for the purity of faith, just as Allah SWT said:

“Only those are Believers who have believed in Allah and His Messenger, and have never since doubted, but have striven with their belongings and their persons in the Cause of Allah: Such are the sincere ones.” (Quran 49:15)

They are truly the sincere ones in their faith because it is confirmed by the bona fide proofs they have displayed, ie. Al-Jihad Fi Sabilillah with their properties and their selves.

Indeed, alwilayah (guardianship) - for those who are seeking and striving for it – cannot be achieved except through mutaba’ah (following the requirements) of the syari’ah and jihad fi sabilillah. The further one is from this approach, the less the protection and care of Allah SWT is upon him.

Ibnu Taimiyyah said in his book Al-‘Ubudiyyah, “Allah has made for those whom He loved I signs: Following His Messenger and Jihad in the way of Allah, that is because jihad in reality is an “Ijtihad” (serious efforts) in obtaining what Allah loves in the form of Al iman and righteous deeds, and in rejecting what He hates in the form of disbelief, godlessness and immorality.”

These are some of the reasons- in fact one is enough for the truth seeker –which made us say whether willingly or reluctantly, that jihad fi sabilillah is a shahih (truly) syar’i (lawful) way and the only one which MUST be embraced and followed by the Ummah in order to reclaim the Islamic way of life and re-establish the Khilafah rashidah.

Even though the path is laid right in front of our eyes but the task of making the first step is always heavy and arduous. Thus since it is not easy for the Ummah to lead and tread on it, it does require a huge amount of sacrifice.

However in spite of the few difficulties in this blessed way, in reality it is the easiest, the shortest and the most minimum in terms of its overall burdens and sacrifices. There is no way that is easier and nearer to achieving its goals and aims than this.

Without this way, all efforts spent in order to realize the general objectives for this deen mentioned earlier are bound to fail and as much as it is unproductive it will achieve nothing but a waste of both time and effort.

For this reason, the du’at and the ‘amilin of this deen should fear Allah especially when they hold themselves accountable for consuming the time and effort of the Ummah. Let them not treat it as objects for sale for their own gains and give out judgements that do not benefit the Ummah other than backwardness and deviation from the true goals and objectives.

An analogy

The use of force and war is the choice of every nation and society since the olden days up to the present time. It has always been used in defending its standard principles and common beliefs the moment they are faced with threats or any attempts to replace it with another. In order to explain this issue let’s take the following analogy:

Supposed in the American society, a number of military officers were carrying out a military coup d'état in order to change the liberal democratic system that had been accepted by all sections in the American society. Furthermore the system is considered as something that is standard and established, and it does not yield to any replacement or substitution.

What would be the reaction of the American citizens- through their “so and so” party and assembly –towards this faction that comes from the military, who wanted to enforce their dictatorship style of government (which is disputing the democratic system that had long been accepted and widely practiced amongst them) by means of force and arms.

Would you see them tolerating the military coup? Would they begin a peaceful negotiation with them, and be pleased with their rule and approach? OR would they come out “up in arms” (literally speaking) against the military uprising with all might? Would they begin a blockade of the revolutionary movement and respond in kind (with military force) until they are all expelled and the long-established societal system is preserved again?

Without a doubt the answer would be the other choice: that is the use of force and arms. Especially when the uprising military faction refuse to back off in a peaceful way.

The actions of the nation’s citizens at the above event is appropriately in accordance with the regulations and are widely accepted by all sectors in the international level. They would be getting an outright approval and a complete aids and support would be provided. They are even free from any accusation of terrorism, destruction, backwardness or any other accusations.

Every nation would stand in the same position when their fundamental and standard principles are seized and changed. They do not have any other way to reclaim what have been snatched from them except by picking up arms.

If the use of force and arms have been approved and allowed for every nation, in order to protect the established concept that had long been common between them. Then, how come the same method is prohibited and forbidden for the Muslims the moment its identity, standard practices and Rabbani (Godly) system are facing confiscation and elimination by a military faction or others that have sold their honour and loyalty to the enemies of the Ummah?

Why are the Islamic Ummah banned from defending its fundamental teachings and standard practices (eg. syariah, khilafah, etc) with the use of force, when every other nation and society are practicing the same method?

Why, when other nations or society are defending its standard principles with the use of military might it is regarded as advanced and legitimate, and that it is one of their basic rights which should be given outright support and assistance?!

Whereas, supposed that the Islamic Ummah is practicing similar tactic, “jihad” and its manner of operations would right away be labeled as backward and that it is an act of terrorism or that it is an uncivilized way as well as many other false accusations!

“Why is that approach allowed for you and not for us?!!”

We would not get the answer for this significant question and we would not find a reasonable clue as to the one sidedness in their assessment and judgement. Other than the fact that they do not like the Islamic Ummah to raise from their slumber and find its form. So that it remains chained with the chains of humiliation, oppression and kuffar!
