Hospitals In Gaza Unable To Entertain Victims Of Israeli Attacks

Jamadi-ul-Awwal 12, 1432 A.H, Saturday, April 16, 2011

In the recent weeks, the brutal attacks of Israel against the Gaza Strip were increasing. Those deadly attacks by the Zionist Israel have taken the lives of many and many more were wounded. It was recorded that 20 people have become shaheed and hundreds of others were seriously wounded. Most of the severe injuries will result in lifelong disability due to the loss of several limbs of their body.

The heinous act of Zionist Israel did not stop there, the various medical sources in Gaza said that the Zionists are again using banned chemical weapons in the form of white phosphorus which they had used in 2008 and 2009. White phosphorus bombs are very dangerous and can cause death, because every part of the body affected by the phosphorus will blister and burn.

Meanwhile, the Health Minister of Gaza, Dr. Baseem Naim, in an interview via telephone, broadcasted live by Al-Aqsa TV (10/4), stated that Israel had used internationally banned weapons during the attacks. All the injured victims have suffered injuries in almost all parts of their bodies and this fact indicates that the Zionists had been using white phosphorus chemical weapons in a series of attacks on Gaza.

The systematic and programmed Israeli aggressions are carried out indiscriminately by attacking women, children and the elderlies. In fact, the Israel attacks have also hurt the medical team. An ambulance was attacked by Zionist Israel after trying to get close to the victims of the Israeli bombings. The attack on the ambulance resulted in the death of a paramedic while the driver was severely wounded.

Baseem Naim also expressed his disbelief on the world community who can only be silent when Israel are blindly killing the Palestinian people.

"We are boggled at the silence of the world community on such crimes of Israel. Many parties in the world only asked the Palestinians to remain calm and restrain from responding to the brutal Israeli acts," Naim said.

Besides that, Naim also asked the Egyptian authority, in this case is the Health Ministry of Egypt, so that they could presumably receive some of the wounded victims to be treated in hospitals in Egypt. This is because of the limited availability of facilities and infrastructure in the hospital in Palestine.

In fact, it is predicted that if these attacks continue and claim many victims then the hospitals in Gaza certainly will not be able to accommodate the number of victims that continues to increase.

The existence of hospitals in conflict areas such as Gaza is indeed very urgently needed, because it can be ascertained that the number of victims will continue to increase and immediate treatments will be needed.

Construction of Indonesian Hospital in Gaza will Begin Soon

It is due to this that the Indonesian Hospital, which will soon begin construction in April 2011, would be very beneficial to the victims of war, because the Indonesian Hospital is specially designed to handle multiple victims who are traumatized and in need of rehabilitation, as well as immediate treatment.

With a capacity of 100 beds and large enough operating rooms, it is hoped that the this Hospital donated by the people of Indonesia can help the victims of war in the Gaza Strip, so there is no need to get out from Gaza and travel long distances to get medical treatments.

At this time the MER-C is preparing to sign a contract with the local contractor in Gaza to start the construction of the Indonesian Hospital. All the volunteers who serve in the Gaza Strip, where there are 7 them altogether, are also currently preparing a variety of matters relating to the signing of the contract and they continue to coordinate with other relevant parties in Gaza. A team of engineers from Jakarta will also be heading to Gaza for this contract signing where all the Team’s licensing are now in the process.

We request for the do’a and support of all the people of Indonesia in particular, so that the construction of the Indonesian Hospital in the Gaza Strip could begin soon and that it will run smoothly.
