Imam Samudera: Not Even A Drop Of
Muslim Blood Is Free NUSAKAMBANGAN - Born on 14th January 1970
with the name Abdul Azis, later this gentleman became to be more known as Imam
Samudra.
In
his diary, Azis revealed why he chose the nick “Imam Samudra”. The heaps of
questions by many quarters made him felt the needs to explain why the choice of
that name.
“Imam” according to him comes from the Arabic language which means “a leader”,
whereas the word “Samudera” means ‘the wide ocean’, ‘beautiful ocean’, ‘sometime
terrifying, sometime fascinating, sometime it gives you the shivers.’
This gentleman who was born in Serang, Banten, is the eighth children from 12
siblings. He grew up with his mother, Embay Badriah (66) as her mother was
divorced from his father when he was still a small boy.
The year 1990, he left for Malaysia before he continued his journey to
Afghanistan. There, Imam Samudra joined the Mujahideen fighting the Soviet Union
rule.
Imam Samudra lived in Afghanistan for 2.5 years. After that he stayed in Johor,
Malaysia. In 1999 he returned to Indonesia.
He began to use the name Imam Samudra after carrying out the Batam Christmas
bombing on the 24th December 2000. After carrying out the bombing act in Batam,
he returned to Malaysia.
Today, approaching the execution day of the three of them, Imam Samudra gave out
a stern warning to the government in a letter received by Suara Islam. In the
message Imam Samudra wrote: “Not even a drop of Muslim blood is free .”
Imam Samudra also warned the government not to follow the instructions of the
USA always in its every decision. Because, America itself has actually lost its
war against the Mujahideen in some Muslim countries.
Eeverybody knows that America and its capitalist system is on the verge of it
collapse, he continued.
To the Law Minister Andi Mattalata, Chancellor Hendarman Supanji and Assistant
attorney general for general crimes Abdul Hakim Ritonga, as well as the judges
who are handling the Bali Bombing case, he wrote that they should think, if
America which had become their leader can be destroyed, what is to be expected
from those who are only its cronies?
“Just reflect, if the three of us are executed, do you think you could be left
alone in comfort (with no pay back)? No! If the people who want to become the
civil servants (PNS) even have to pay, what do you expect to get for taking away
the lives of the Mujahideen,” he threatened.
In the end of the letter Imam Samudra left a message, “You could anytime decide
to execute us, according to the order of your bosses, however
“The response is what you see and not what you hear”
